Hello LUES Family,
Congratulations to your student on completing the first iReady Diagnostic for the 2024-2025 school year! As I’ve mentioned before, the Diagnostic is an important tool we use to understand your student better and where we can offer the best support.
You can also talk to your student about the work they just completed and learn more about their progress. Here are some questions you can use to spark a discussion:
· What was it like to take the Diagnostic? What did you do during the test to make sure you did your best?
· Tell me about some of the reflections you’ve made from your data. What are you proud of? What do you need to work on?
· What goals did you set based on this Diagnostic?
· How can I help support your goals?
Thank you again for your continued partnership and support in your student’s learning.
Best,
Rhonda Stone
Principal LUES

Please encourage your child to exhibit positive behaviors at school and follow our DAWGS Expectations.
Thank you for your support,

LUES FAMILY FOCUS- ESTABLISHING ROUTINES
Morning Routine: A structured morning routine can set a positive tone for the day, and help reduce morning chaos and rush. As you create a routine, think about including getting dressed, eating breakfast (at home or school), brushing your teeth, and reviewing the day's schedule.

LUES ANTI-BULLY SHOW (9/24/24) PERMISSION SLIPS
As part of our Positive Behavior Rewards, we would like to take students on a field trip to the PAL Theatre to see the Anti-Bully Show "SUPER ME". Please return permission slips (filled out front and back) and $6 to attend the show. In order for students to qualify, they must have excellent behavior from 9/20/24-9/24/24 (4 days)- no office referrals and no classroom referrals. As always, we will accept donations for any student(s) that cannot afford to attend.

The LUES Family Focus for this month is ESTABLISHING ROUTINES. Remember that establishing routines takes time and patience, especially at the beginning of the school year. So, be flexible and make adjustments as needed. You will quickly find out how beneficial having routines can be for your whole family!

Missing a day of school here and there may not seem like much, but absences add up. Let's have a successful year together!

Dear Families,
I am excited to share that our school will be using a Mathematics/Reading/Mathematics and Reading program called i-Ready. This is considered a testing environment very much like the Georgia Milestones. We need students to be on time to school (7:45 am) and stay all day (2:45 pm). If they miss a testing portion, they will have to make it up during lunch, recess, and/or connections.
What is i-Ready? i-Ready is an online program that will help us determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor their progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows us to meet your child where they are and provides us with data to inform instruction.
The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions based on student responses. Each item a student receives is based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier ones. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning.
i-Ready Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual strengths and areas for growth. These lessons are interactive and provide strategic supports to keep your child engaged as they learn. They are to complete 45 minutes a week on iReady during a structured class time period. They will set individual goals to pass lessons at their own pace and on their own level.
What can YOU do to help?
To help prepare your child for the i-Ready Diagnostic, encourage them to:
· Get a good night’s sleep and eat a full breakfast the day of the assessment.
· Try their best on each question and try not to rush.
· Try not to worry about questions they do not know—remind them that it is expected they will get only about half of the questions correct.
· Be respectful of other students who take longer to finish.
· Remind them to Use paper and pencil to show work for math questions.
To support your child’s learning with online lessons, you can:
· Discuss your child’s progress on their i-Ready lessons.
· Celebrate your child’s learning and growth.
Students scoring GREEN on their iReady Assessment in either category will receive EXTRA RECESS on August 23, 2024.
Thank you for your continued support and for being a partner in your child’s learning! I look forward to sharing i-Ready information with you throughout the year. If you have any questions about i-Ready, please do not hesitate to contact me or the school. You can also learn more about i-Ready by visiting i-ReadyCentral.com/FamilyCenter.
Sincerely,
Rhonda Stone

Estimados padres/madres y tutores/as:
Atentamente,
Rhonda Stone
