This week Mrs. Russell's fourth graders made their own wagons and wrote letters back home to their families describing their experiences on the Oregon Trail. They also worked hard to create their own Google slides presentation on the Oregon Trail. #shiningwithsuccess #shine

Toombs County Schools Update: Toombs County Schools will reopen tomorrow, Friday, January 24. We look forward to seeing our students and providing them a safe, warm learning environment!

Important Update from Toombs County Schools: After consulting with the local Emergency Management Agency and the Toombs County Sheriff's Office, we have determined that hazardous road conditions caused by snowfall and persistent sub-freezing temperatures—leading to dangerous icing—make school travel unsafe. To prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and community, schools will remain closed on Thursday, January 23, 2025. The plan is to return to normal school operations on Friday, January 24, 2025. Our school transportation department will reach out to families of bus riders affected by impacted roads to ensure safe travel to school on Friday.

PARENTS....Please note that early sign outs will NOT be allowed at TCES after 1:30. We will be preparing to dismiss and after 1:30 you will need to get in the car rider line for pickup.

Update from Toombs County School System:
After careful monitoring of the incoming weather conditions and in consultation with our local EMA, we have made the following adjustments to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and community:
On Tuesday, January 21, all schools will dismiss early at 2:00 PM to allow buses to be off the roads ahead of the incoming weather.
We will be closed to students and staff on Wednesday, January 22.
All extracurricular activities and events on January 21 and January 22 are cancelled.
We will resume all normal school schedules and activities on Thursday, January 23.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize everyone's safety. We will continue to communicate any school updates through the following communication tools: Toombs County Schools mobile app, Social Media Outlets (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), School websites, Email, text and call-out system.
